About the Structure section

The Structure section of your profile is all about refining the type of work you prefer.

Wage Structure: Use this field to specify how you prefer to be paid: Hourly, Salary, Contract, or Commission. There are implications for each of these, whether it's work/life balance, earning potential, or stability, to name a few.

Hours Per Week: Specify the number of hours you'd like to work per week. The standard for full-time work is 40 hours, and the standard for part-time work is 20 hours, but you can select whatever makes the most sense to you. We'll try to recommend jobs that come closest to your desired hours per week.

Shift: Specify which shifts you'd like to work. First shift is the typical day shift, second shift is evenings, and third shift is overnight.

Schedule: If you prefer your hours to be consistent and fixed, select an option on the left side of the scale; if you prefer to set your own hours, select an option on the right side of the scale.

Labor Type: If you prefer physical or manual labor, select an option on the left side of the scale; if you prefer knowledge work, as in many desk jobs, select an option on the right side of the scale.

Travel: Your job could be your ticket to see the world. If you prefer a job without any travel requirement, select an option on the left side of the scale; if you prefer to travel frequently for work, select an option on the right side of the scale.

Uncertainty: If you prefer open-ended tasks or work without an obvious path forward (maybe you love a good puzzle), select an option on the left side of the scale; if you prefer well-defined tasks where you know exactly what to expect when you come to work each day, select an option on the right side of the scale.

Variety: If you prefer doing the same type of work each day with little variation, select an option on the left side of the scale; if you prefer regular opportunities to work on new things, select an option on the right side of the scale.

Perspective: Some people thrive on big picture work (sometimes referred to as strategy) and some people thrive on figuring out the details (sometimes referred to as tactics). If you prefer big picture work, select an option on the left side of the scale; if you prefer detail-oriented work, select an option on the right side of the scale.

Customer Interaction: If you prefer a job where you don't have to interact directly with customers, select an option on the left side of the scale; if you prefer to interface with customers most of the time, select an option on the right side of the scale.

Creativity: Many jobs require creativity, and not just in the artistic sense. Consider ideation as an example. If you would prefer a job that doesn't require creativity or thinking outside the proverbial box, select an option on the left side of the scale; if you'd prefer to make creative thinking your day job, select an option on the right side of the scale.
